January 8, 2014

Today the weather is a bit warmer.  The dogs were ok with going outside.  The back door would not open because Baxter's basketball was frozen to the steps and it could only open far enough for the dogs to squeeze out.  Marco had a vet appointment today and he was a big baby but did ok.  He needs a teeth cleaning but otherwise all is well.  He was declared heart worm, lyme disease free and fit.

David had a client today with a Body Media device.  We looked at them and decided to buy one and see how it works.  It may help me get back on my fitness track and eating better.

Our yearly stink bug turned up.  He is pictured below perched on the compost pail.

We are going to Brews for mid Jan beers and food with friends Saturday.  Should be a lot of fun.  We always have a great time there.

We are going to relax with cocktails in a bit and we are watching Voyager.  We are just in the first season.  Our list of shows is growing we need to catch up on new Downton Abbey, Sherlock and also True Blood.

January 6, 2014:
Today is one of the coldest days in over 20 years. The temperature is going to be down to -10 tonight with wind chills at -45.  We are experiencing what they have called a polar vortex.  The dogs have been warm in the garage with their heated dog mats and straw lined pen.  When they go out they are not staying out long.  We have the temperature of the house set at 67 and tend to wear hoodies but tonight there is a strong wind blowing and can feel it on the floor and the furnace is not off for long before it starts up again.  I went up to Columbus to get dog food and went to Kohls for blankets that were on sale.  I was supposed to have a massage but forgot to schedule it and when called Jay he was sick so that worked out ok and he will hopefully be better next week and I can go up then.  Today was busy at work I had 4 consults. Since noon I have had four more and took myself out til Wednesday.  I can't do clinic, rounds on the 4 old patients and see 4 new patients let alone more consults so everyone will know my table is full until Wednesday.  I am hoping we will get another ID doctor in the next year or so but with all the changes at the hospital and in the FHP group it may be a while.  I guess it is job security.  David is meditating as I write this then we will have our daily snack before bed, floss our teeth and brush them then head to bed with the dogs and cat and snuggle in for a cold night.

First Post:  January 5, 2014
This is my first blog ever.  I decided to do this just to document some of the events of my life.   It is not so much to have amazing insights, or scandalous details.  My Grandmother Murry kept a written journal for many years and I wish we still had them.  She would document some of the things she did that day, cook, laundry, visit with friends, play cards.  She would often comment on the weather and other routine daily happenings.  I hope to do the same.  I may not do this every day or even every week but just want to see how it looks at the end of this year 2014.  I also have some general goals for myself that I want to track and this seemed to be a good way to be more accountable for those if to no one else but me.

I am currently living in Lancaster, Ohio.  I have been here since 1998 when I finished medical training as an Infectious Diseases doctor.  I also do wound care and work at the local Hospice.  I am married since 9/22/2012 to David Dagg.  He has a counseling private practice in Carroll, Ohio-Nameste Counseling and Consultation.  He started it in August of this last year.  We are very happy and hope to build a home out on 15 acres of land near Baltimore Ohio in a few years.  We have four dogs, Dot, Marco, Bailey, Baxter and one cat-Hobbes.

Today is very cold and we are expecting snow and wind.  We are working on several work projects today.  I am hoping to try a new recipe for eggplant Lebanese Eggplant Stew.  Will let everyone know how that goes.  Its made in the slow cooker.  Its laundry day at our house.  All the dogs are laying around keeping warm and napping.  Hobbes is checking out the tree in the front yard for birds.
